CB&I-Lummus Wins Methanol-to-Olefins Deal in China

CB&I officials announced June 23 that Ning Bo Heyuan Chemical Co. awarded Lummus Technology, a CB&I company, a contract for the license and basic engineering of a DMTO methanol-to-olefins recovery unit, and an Olefins Conversion Technology (OCT) unit in Ning Bo, China.

“The DMTO unit will produce 600,000 metric tons per annum (MTA) of ethylene and propylene, as well as some lower value n-butylenes,” according to CB&I. All of the n-butylenes and some of the recovered ethylene from the DMTO will be used in the OCT unit to produce 90,000 MTA of propylene. – Jack Peckham
