North Dakota lawmakers have been presented a proposal for the state's energy policy for the future, The Dickinson Press reported July 12. The proposal was created by EmPower North Dakota Commission, an organization led by the Commerce Commissioner and includes representatives from the state's energy sectors. A number of goals were listed in the report, including: (1). Achieving greater energy independence and environmentally friendly energy production by 2025. (2). Building clean coal power plants. (3). Building lignite gasification and liquefaction plants. (4). Production of 450 million gallons per year of ethanol by 2015. (5).
