Carbon Sciences Inc. announced July 27 that the importance and potential of the company's technology was emphasized by CEO, Byron Elton, in his printed response in The New York Times to an op-ed contribution from Robert Boyce titled, "A Bad Bet on Carbon."

Boyce's assertion that "unlike natural gas, carbon dioxide is a worthless waste product," prompted a response from Elton, which was included in both the print and online edition of the newspaper: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/21/opinion/l21carbon.html.

The response provided the following perspective, "Because all fuel begins with carbon dioxide, Mr. Bryce and your readers should be aware that a number of companies, including Carbon Sciences, are developing breakthrough technologies to transform this greenhouse gas into valuable, marketable and useful liquid portable fuels. This addresses both the climate and energy challenges facing the world."

Carbon Sciences' primary focus is a CO2-based Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) process that converts natural gas and CO2, into gasoline and other valuable liquid, portable fuels. Carbon Sciences announced the patent filing for the breakthrough CO2-based GTL technology earlier this year, the company said.

"Gas-to-Liquids technology is the only process capable of producing a drop-in replacement for gasoline, at scale, without using crude oil," said Elton. "Our CO2-based technology is a radical departure from conventional GTL processes. We anticipate we will significantly reduce capital costs and be CO2 negative, two major current challenges," added Elton.
