Steve attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He studied engineering, prior to obtaining a B.Sc. in Geology (Honors) in 1980 and a M.Sc. in Geology in 1983. Steve obtained his Professional Geoscientist designation in 1997 and is registered as a Professional Geoscientist in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick. He founded North Rim Exploration Ltd., a geoscience consulting company in 1984, which provides advisement in the potash, industrial and sedimentary minerals sectors.
Steve began his career as a petroleum geologist with Petrocanada Inc. in 1983 and holds APEGS "Licence for Permission to Consult" in the field of "subsurface geology as applied to petroleum, potash, and industrial minerals deposits" providing research and advice to resource companies, investors, and First Nations.
He is directly involved in the petroleum business as founder, shareholder, and President of Prairie Hunter Energy Corporation, a private oil exploration and development company presently active in south and central Saskatchewan.
